Call for Collaborators
PROPOSALS DUE MAY 15
The Playground Ensemble is issuing a call for proposals for diverse, Colorado-based creative individuals or organizations with whom we can create new collaborative works involving music.
We welcome proposals from musicians, composers, improvisers, producers, video artists, poets, painters, playwrights, sculptors, actors, dancers, or any other creators interested in working together with the Playground. We are especially interested in submissions from individuals in traditionally underrepresented groups. Traditionally notated scores are also welcome.
We envision selecting 2-3 proposals. A pool of $2,000 will be available to compensate these collaborators and will be distributed among the selected proposal proponents at the Playground’s discretion. Artists chosen should be prepared to create a project alongside the Ensemble for performance during The Playground’s 2021-2022 concert season. Other performances in addition to the proposed project may be negotiated.
TIMELINE
May 15, 2021 - Submissions due
May/June 2021 - Review by adjudication panel
July/August 2021 - Interviews with top proposals
September 1, 2021 - Announcement of selected proposals
October 2021 - May 2022 - Performances in Denver (performance dates will be determined together with the collaborators and based on ability to offer live performances dependent on COVID-19 restrictions.)
