Inspired by Playground's 2022 collaboration with sound sculptor and interdisciplinary artist Alex Branch, Sculpting Sound will feature multiple new visual artworks by sound sculpture and installation artists. Each artist will be paired with a composer commissioned by the Playground Ensemble to write music specifically for their new works of art, treating them like an instrument in the ensemble. The works will be on public display for a month, with visitors able to interact with the artwork themselves in the gallery, and then culminate in a set of educational events and concerts featuring the new musical compositions presented by The Playground.
